One of the things I love about our traveling time is that you get to sit and listen to people talking when they don't think you are listening. I love these unguarded moments.

Last night over our haggus we listened to an older lady who was unhappy with her rich boyfriend as he had yet to add her to the will and "protect her" after being together for "30." Days? Weeks? Years? Not sure. "You just don't care about protecting me," she kept complaining. He clearly didn't.

Having some experience in this, we wanted to stand up and say, sister, try being with someone for 20 years and having to deal with this situation. And, because it was not addressed properly, having someone who has deliberately stalled properly distributing the proceeds of the will to an 80-year-old woman for two years over the most trivial and petty of reasons.

It's kind of like a highly specialized TV soap opera.

This morning, since I suspect we are in a somewhat conservative area of New York, as we came down for breakfast at the inn, we got to listen to 4 older guys who were sitting around with lots of tine on their hands. They had clearly been weaned from the sour pickle that is Fox. Their attention naturally turned to the pandemic, as I suspect it has many times through the years.
