"You out of town guys sure think you're real keen, Think all of us boys here are homespun and green..." Elton John

One of the things I love about our traveling time is that you get to sit and listen to people talking when they don't think you are listening. I love these unguarded moments.

Last night over our haggus we listened to an older lady who was unhappy with her rich boyfriend as he had yet to add her to the will and "protect her" after being together for "30." Days? Weeks? Years? Not sure. "You just don't care about protecting me," she kept complaining. He clearly didn't.

Having some experience in this, we wanted to stand up and say, sister, try being with someone for 20 years and having to deal with this situation. And, because it was not addressed properly, having someone who has deliberately stalled properly distributing the proceeds of the will to an 80-year-old woman for two years over the most trivial and petty of reasons.

It's kind of like a highly specialized TV soap opera.

This morning, since I suspect we are in a somewhat conservative area of New York, as we came down for breakfast at the inn, we got to listen to 4 older guys who were sitting around with lots of tine on their hands. They had clearly been weaned from the sour pickle that is Fox. Their attention naturally turned to the pandemic, as I suspect it has many times through the years.

"....and this guy was a pastor, a good Christian, a real good guy, but he lost his flock during COVID cuz he wouldnt take the jab. Can you believe it?"

"It was just the government's way of thinning out the population. They wanted to take strong young men and make them weaker. It was a form of population control."

"I have a nephew who took the jab just a few weeks ago. His heart started racing immediately and his temp went up to 104. The so-called medical professionals didn't know what to do."

"Well that must have ruined his day," said one guy, who seemed a bit amused by the other three.

One gent, who seemed rather litigious, suggested suing all the attorneys for their legal costs for cases related to the "jab" that didn't go anywhere.

It was all I could do to sit there and listen to this nonsense. My gut reaction is always to get up and leave. Corb's is to sit and listen, because it makes for good stories.

Upon reflection, I am going to try and take Corb's advice more. This stuff is really too good not to set down. And it resulted in a great conversation for the road for about an hour afterwards.

Off to the next adventure!

Postscript: we arrived in Cleveland at around nine that night. The Glidden House was just as wonderful as when we had been there about two years before to this day. It's nice to be back.

Sometimes, the return trip feels just as good as the first time around.
