Love in the time of Coronavirus
Mar. 21st, 2020 06:15 pmOkay, I'm back for a bit. How is everyone doing?
It's been a busy week for me. Working at home, as so many of us are (and I really have a huge appreciation for grocery store and sanitation workers right now), but between c-virus and market vol, things are insane right now.
Also been trying to keep the show I am directing moving along through virtual blocking rehearsals. Using Zoom to interact has been fun and keeps us connected. But honestly, I think in two weeks we will be cancelling the show until next year. It's scheduled to go up in June but there simply won't be enough time for rehearsals.
Today I decided to turn my brain off from all this and just focus with Corb on cleaning. We tackled the upstairs bathroom and our bedroom. Corb has ambitions to repaint our bedroom this week. We shall see.
Ashes is still working at her place (a mental health intake facility) and very nervous about the standards they have to protect workers. I am more concerned about Josie, who is still going in to her job (an alcohol rehab facility) to interact with 300-plus guys even though she just had cancer surgery this past summer.
Theo is working as a substitute teacher, which of course means that he is not working at all right now. He keeps himself busy playing Magic, but is frankly kind of bored, I think.
It's all first world stuff right now, but this is a scary, unprecedented time and I can't say I am not nervous. Seeing so many empty shelves at the supermarket is a bit unnerving, even if we are really all set supply wise (Ping can't have her favorite brand of cat food? Life goes on!)
Still, I am seeing many reasons to be grateful right now: more time with the kids (Ashes is currently obsessed with Ru Paul's Drag Race and drag queens...who would have thought the child that was so opposed to me and Corb being together would be such a gay advocate?), more time to spend with Corb and more time to whip Green Victoria into shape certainly top the list.
But that Italy cruise we had planned for July? Ehhh...prolly not happening....
