LJ and spam?

tedwordsWhat is it with Live Journal and spam, lately? The last entry I posted received 15 spam comments, which I had to sort through and delete. Not really time consuming, but annoying, especially because I receive them as email notifications, too.
And that's just the worst example. There are quite a few other entries that have one or two spam comments clinging to them like barnacles.
If this keeps up, I may have to find another place to journal. My friend Mousey moved on about a year ago, so there are other options...I would just miss the friends that I've made through the ten years that I've been on LJ.
