I don't think there's any question who I'll be voting for tomorrow, but the question that I have is, are all the LJ friends I have who can vote actually voting?

This election appears to be the closest one ever, and if you care about where this country is headed, you just can't remain apathetic. This year, every vote counts--EVEN FROM DEAD PEOPLE!

Ahem. Seriously, this is a very important election, and I can't imagine anyone not wanted to have their say in America's future. So whether you agree with my ultra-conservative (YEAH, RIGHT) views or not, please take the time to make your voice heard. Think about it this way: if your guy loses, at least you'll have the pleasure of whining about it for the next four years.

And if my guy loses? If I wake up Wednesday morning and Bush has been reelected? Well, just keep in mind, kids, I'm on my way to Disney world by plane at four in the morning that day. A little Mickey better go a long way to salvaging this broken heart...

God bless America! Oh, and in the spirit of tomorrow, I'll share with you a little song I wrote for a play a few years ago, which is sung to "Hail to the Chief." It was written for a murder mystery I produced called "To Kill A Queen." No, I wasn't the queen, thank you very much for asking.

Hail to the Queen, 'cause she's really really powerful
And she will kill us if we don't sing this song!
Oh, how we hate her, she's made our lives so miserable
But as long as she's in charge we'll have to sing along

Okay, I did my job. I voted...

And of course, I voted Kerry/Edwards. There really wasn't any other choice for me.

Let's hope for a victory! This country desperately needs a change.

This is from my buddy, Peg--an excellent writer. Feel free to share!

For your consideration. . .
Federal Budget
January 2001-cumulative surplus of $5 Trillion
Four years later-cumulative shortfall of (at least) $2.3 trillion

Tax cuts for the middle and lower classes
Person in lowest 5th of income distribution-$91
Person in upper 5th of income distribution -$60,000

Environment
Rescinding of Clean Air Act, backed by nation’s largest polluters, including the toxic Brayton Point Plant in Swansea, MA, which pumps millions of gallons of deadly hot water in Narragansett Bay every day
Proposed drilling of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Stripping restrictions on the use of federal land, now open for logging, mining and oil drilling
Consistent resistence to fuel-efficiency requirements on vehicles

Privacy
Section 215 of Patriot Act permits government investigators to obtain, without paperwork or probable cause, records from libraries, bookstores, doctors, universities and Internet Service Providers

Federal Courts
Currently well-stocked with conservative idealogues—201 confirmations so far, more than any president in modern history
Roe v. Wade—two Supreme Court votes from complete reversal

Health
Crippling limits on stem cell research
Consistent alliances with pharmeceutical industry
Confusing, bureaucratic, and ill-conceived “reforms” to Medicare and Medicaid, making it hard and sometimes impossible for aging people to afford medicine and health care

Education
Grossly underfunded “No Child Left Behind Act” leaches funds from other, more proven educational programs such as HeadStart

War
Afghanistan -Taliban is regrouping, opium production increased 40-fold
Iraq-consistent pattern of moral and political catastrophe-no WMDs, Abu Ghraib, very little and diminishing international support, $200 billion in costs so far, more than 1000 deaths since “Mission Accomplished,” chaos, violence, unemployment and no end in sight
Sources: New Yorker, righteous anger
