Curmudgeon that I am, I usually avoid roping popular pop culture references into my journal entries, unless they're at least 6.5 years out of date.

Be that as it may, I couldn't help but think of a Buffy reference this morning as I was driving to work. I had just dropped Corb off at his house: he had been in a car accident the day before and needed a ride to and from work, and I, being the good, dutiful boyfriend, took care of transportation (he worked an overnight last night).

Anyway, as I was driving to work, my boss called me up on my cell. He had been looking at proofs of a magazine I edit and had a few suggestions, and since he was on vacation, wanted to arrange for a drop-off.

"Are you almost at work?" he asked.

"I'm on my way, but just dropped Corb off at home after work," I replied.

So anyway, this may not immediately make sense, but work with me: After I got off the phone, I thought of this episode of Buffy that I had watched the other night with Ashley. Buffy's in class taking a test, and talking about this rush of inhibition she felt killing vampires the night before with Faith, and Willow said, "Yeah, I can relate," or something to that effect, and Buffy replied, "I don't think you can. It's kind of a slayer thing."

So here's my big thing point: I don't know if a lot of people can truly appreciate how big a deal it is to me that I was able to casually tell my boss that I was dropping my boyfriend off from work. Yes, yes, yes, that's the way it should be, blah blah blah...but that's not what I'm getting at at all.

For me....for where I've been these past thirty (mumble mumble) years...for all that I've not said for so long. It was really a great feeling, and Joe really is a heck of a good guy.

I can tell my designer is getting tired today...I called in a change today asking him to spell out LGBT, and he came back with "Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sectual, and Transgender."

I called him back and told him that's why he complains so much about not getting any--he going around looking for sects, and that's not going to get him the right demographics...
