I love the coming of Spring. It's probably my favorite time of the year, and never fails to fill me with a spirit of renewal and the sense of promise.

Last night I chose to fore-go my traditional all-day listening of Jekyll and Hyde on the day of a rehearsal in favor of Belle and Sebastian's "If You're Feeling Sinister." What a great CD, especially "Seeing Other People." There's no denying what that song's about.

I love the line "You take a lover for a dirty weekend, that's ok/But when it's over/You are looking at the working week in the eyes of a gigolo," because I've experienced that feeling on more than a few occasion this past year. Plus, the song has this great piano line, which always reminds me of "Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi.

But today I go back to listening to Jekyll and Hyde. I tend to favor the concept album, although there truly are some rancid lyrics in it. My current fave:

"The world has gone insane
And parasites are eating out my brain."

Now that's gotta hurt, huh?

"Atomic" by Sleeper (off the Trainspotting Soundtrack) is ALMOST as good as the original!
