The day after Briksdal brought us to Flam, and that was a lovely day. But honestly, after the hijinks of the day before, it was going to be hard to find something even as close to exciting as that. Especially since we had been unable to get tickets to the famous Flam railway, which was really the big attraction in Flam. I had been trying for months, but Royal Caribbean had sold out on the attraction very quickly, although curiously, there was a glitch in their system which showed it as "Only 3 tickets left!" when you tried to book the excursion. I called and emailed, and even though we are diamond members, they really could not help us much. We also tried online directly (which had we known, we probably would simply have done without any support from RC), but all tickets were gone. Such is the struggle when you are on a massive boat with 6,000 people.

(So my point is, if you are planning to go to Flam, book that early!)

It was a shame, but perhaps it was for the best. The village itself is absolutely gorgeous and perhaps a day of just walking about was just what the doctor ordered. Flam is located in southwestern Norway, in an area known for its fjords, and houses an 17th-century wooden church in its valley, with some absolutely spectacular waterfall views. Walking about, taking a tiny "choo choo" excursion and just having a nice snack in the town's center was all we really wanted from this day, and it delivered in spades.

Embrace every opportunity the day before you brings. Each one is put there for a reason.
