Then, of course, there are times when Theo is less than profound.

"Dad, what would you do if Corb killed either me or Ashes?" he asked, immediately after his brilliant observation about sibling love.

That one didn't take any thought at all. "Well, of course, I'd kill him to avenge your death," I replied.

"How about if Andrew killed either me or Theo?" asked Ashes.

"I'd kill him, too." Gee, there was an awful lot of bloodshed taking place, tonight.

"How about if he killed mom?" asked Theo, dimples showing.

Oh. "Um, I'd send him a really sternly-worded letter," I said, laughing and just imagining the look on Josie's face when I told her this, later on. Then I paused. "Wait, even better. I'd award Andrew full custody of the two of you. That way, he'd really pay for what he'd done. Even worse than a death sentence!"

This week I had to fly to St. Louis for a meeting. It was about a five-hour trip, because there's no direct flight from Providence, but at least it's one more state I can check off my list of places visited.

Brought a good book, too, and I have to highly recommend it. Seriously, I couldn't put it down. Usually, with books, after two or three chapters, I have to stop and clear my head for a few minutes, and in many cases, do something else, like writing or simply staring out the window (God forbid I should talk to the person next to me.)

It's "The Hunger Games," by Suzanne Collins. Ashes had suggested I read it, and I'm awfully glad she did. It's part one of a trilogy, too, and I can't wait to see what happens next. Check it out!

Lots to say about this recent spate of gay teen suicides and the entire bullying conversation. Definitely like the videos put out by folks like Kathy Griffin and Sarah Silverman. More to come on that topic.
