Feb. 16th, 2006 05:49 pmHey,
bluedevilsf! I finally picked up Belle and Sebastian's The Life Pursuit .
I even bought myself the deluxe version, with the DVD of the BBC preview of several of the songs from the album. Who in the heck is the cute long blond-haired guitar player? Woof.
My initial thoughts? I really like it. It's got a great variety of styles (mostly from the seventies--even Bowie!), told in their typically quirky fashion. My only complaint would be that the start of "Another Sunny Day" borrows from the opening chord progression of "I'm Waking Up to Us." (How's that for a die-hard Belle and Sebastian fan?) And I really wish that they had included "Meat and Potatoes" on the CD--that's an incredible song.
