Here's some free, unsolicited advice, take it for what it's worth: if you've ever been handed an assignment, and you're dreading getting the job done, I've discovered, time and again, that there's just one solution:

Sit down. Set yourself a time limit. And then, just get to work. Don't set any expectations about the quality of the work that you're looking to accomplish. You can do that later. Just sit down, don't let anything distract you, and focus on what needs to be done.

I did that last night, after [livejournal.com profile] ohhjuliet motivated me to get back to work on "The Late Night Show," and I did it again today, when I finally forced myself to spend at least a half an hour on the Mediation Center press release. Both times, I realized that the effort I was expending in feeling guilty about not getting something accomplished was far greater than the effort it actually took to move forward. Plus, I felt better, as a result.

Okay, sermon's over! Does anyone want the pickles I'm not going to eat? They came with my lunch and I don't like anything besides dill spears.
