These past few weeks, Corb and I have been waking up at seven in the morning and walking for about a half an hour at the local Eldredge Park. It's about five minutes from the house and a mere two miles for four laps around the walkway, but it's awfully nice to get out and get the blood flowing before having to start work, and the sounds of the zoo animals waking up and getting fed are kind of fun to listen to (I'm partial to the lions).
The turns around the park have also give me time to plan out the day ahead. And the past few days, bigger picture than that.
One of the things that's been on my mind is, where do I want to go from here? I have been at the company I work for for more than seven years now, and I think I'm pretty good at what I do. I am a good writer, a good organizer, and these past few years, I've gotten really good at working with the media, too. But the thing is, I've been working on the same sorts of projects for about seven years now. How many more research studies on retirement preparedness can I write? How many stories about student debt?
About three months ago, I was contacted by people inside the company about three different job opportunities, all at around the same time. Nothing came of it, but it got the wheels turning. And this morning, as we were walking, I turned to Corb and said:
