Out with the Old...

Quite a strange New Years eve. Well, maybe not strange, but certainly, different. For over two decades, December 31 has been the night of our Skanky Swap, where we exchange horrible unwanted gifts with a small group of friends. Someone always gets an ugly purple painted Elvis painting (from a show I directed a long long time ago) and their obligation is to add something to it for the next year. Elvis had to wait another year this time around.
Instead, Corb and I (and not Elvis) celebrated the evening with just the two of us...and frankly? For days, I've been kind of looking forward to it. What a wonderful chance to breakj away from the customary. The two of us alone on NYE is something we have never done and I really couldn't wait to tune out, enjoy a nice quiet night, maybe have a cold Cosmo and spend the time with the guy I love. Can't think of a better way to ring in the new year.
In actually, I didn't even have the cold Cosmo. Oh, we bought it, all right, but I was simply content watching old movies, having a nice dinner taken out from our favorite restaurant, having a little woo hoo, and going for a walk after dinner around the new block behind us. By the time it came for a martini glass, I was more in the mood for water.
