  • Last night was the first meeting for the production team of The Drowsy Chaperone, the annual spring production for the Eldredge Players. It's the eighth show that I've directed with my friends Tony, my musical director, and Judee, my choreographer, and my third with Mama Sue, my assistant director. A few weeks before auditions, we always get together at the Downtown pub to talk a little bit about the play, gossip, and just shoot the crap. Judee always brings her mother along, who is still going strong and quite involved in theater at the age of ninety. At the end of the night, as we always do, we engaged in a big group hug. Corny, I know, but it always warms me up for the work that needs to be done in the next few months.
  • One thing I'm still need of is a set designer. I feel fairly good about the folks who may be trying out, but try as I might, I haven't been able to secure a set designer for the show. I have managed to secure some of the more difficult items to create (the plane, the Murphy bed, the fridge), but this show needs a good set. That really worries me.
  • On another super positive note, Ashes has been accepted to a second college, and this one is offering her a $7500 a year scholarship to attend. Not bad, and a really shot in the arm for my girl. This is a good part of the year for her, and I have to say, I'm pretty damn proud.
