Okay, why do sentences such as this in a so-called self-help book called "Happy" really bug the shit out of me? Let's see if you can figure out what's wrong with this sentence:

"Why did holidays with my family in a cramped house with little in the way of material gifts but lots in the way of love in fun have a more lasting impact on my happiness than the gorgeous and expensive M3 BMW my brother and I were given in our late teens when our family's financial condition improved dramatically?"

Or how about this..."I was in the third day of my honeymoon in a remote tropical island when..."

Or how about this, "I now understand how a friend of mine who had gone to Brown University and was making millions during Wall Street's heyday could suddenly give it all up..." Keep in mind, he's still on that "remote tropical island."

Drop those names, frat boy! I don't know...maybe if you spent less time bragging about what you have/had, your "help" might truly be considered selfless. Having trouble getting through this one and I'm only on page 18.
