Miss Manners Wanted: Laundry Etiquette

So, what is the proper laundry etiquette, I ask you?

At the apartment we live in, we have a shared laundry at the bottom of the apartment, with one washer and one dryer. It's actually a pretty nice room, everyone keeps it clean, and both work pretty well.

However, there are a few people who seem to labor under the impression that they're the only ones who have laundry, for some reason. I can't tell you how many times I've gone downstairs and found someone's wet laundry sitting in the washer. That wouldn't be bad, if they didn't leave them there for hours.

Like today, for example. I go downstairs with a load of dirty laundry, and sure enough, someone has left their wet clothes in the washer.

Fair enough. Maybe the cycle just ended. So, I leave my laundry downstairs and go back to make lunch for the kids.

Twenty minutes later, I go back down. Still in the washer. So, this time I take the laundry out (I'll be damned if I'm going to go around asking whose laundry it is, to hell with that). I place their clothes on top of the dryer (which kind of makes me feel dirty, if I have to be honest). Then I put my clothes in the washer.

An hour later, I go back down. Their wet clothes are STILL on the dryer. So, I take mine out of the washer, place them in the dryer, and hit the on button.

Now technically, I think I kind of cut this person. But how long am I supposed to wait for them to remember that their clothes are downstairs? In my mind, it's their fault for being so lazy or forgetful. Or thoughtless, frankly. I would never leave my clothes hanging around all day like that.

Is it me? I am seeing things wrong? I don't think I really am, frankly. Emily Post, take me away!
