Jun. 8th, 2005 11:58 amWith the play winding down, I have decided to make it a point to start posting more, and actually started to put together a post last night, using my trusty legal pad and pen. I fell asleep, however, and since the internet's down for a bit at home, I didn't get a chance to write any more.
This morning, going through my Live Journal, I realized that someone had taken me off their friend's list. Since it's someone I actually know, I wrote to them, asking why. I wasn't really offended, I just was more curious than anything else. This person wrote back right away, and, to this person's credit, answered truthfully...
"Your posting style, telling stories rather than posts, can be confusing about the reality of your
life, and I've found myself skipping over more than reading."
I've actually done quite a bit of thinking about my journaling, and my thought had been to actually continue exploring the storytelling style that I had developed. I like it, it fits me, and as a writing exercise, it's the best way I can think of to develop my craft.
That said, though, I'd be interested in getting a bit more feedback on whether my style is so confusing as to be off-putting. The impression I've gotten recently is that, when I tell stories, it's more engaging than simply posting "Corb placed peanut butter in the fridge"...and more than that, the LJ stories that I'm interested in reading from my friends tend to be told in a narrative fashion, too. However, I could be totally off base on that. Anyone want to weigh in?
