The best part of today is that I can drop the kids off at school...and then head right back home, and climb back into bed. I am one happy Teddy!

Okay, single LJers...here's my gift to you...put down your browser and haul your butt over to your nearest bookstore! However, I'm willing to bet that Borders is a better bet than Barnes & Noble...in my humble opinion, the guys are usually much cuter there!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Looking for a New Year's Eve date? Check under fiction at your local bookstore. According to a survey of 1,003 New Yorkers aged 25 to 35 released by American Express on Wednesday, the bookstore chain Barnes & Noble has the best singles scene in the city.

Barnes & Noble spokeswoman Mary Ellen Keating said she was not surprised. "We've actually had requests from people who have met in our stores ... asking if they could be married in our stores," she said. The chain has hosted a number of weddings, she added.

I received the attached email today...long time readers of "Nocompromises" will recall that Piotr was a guy that I dated for about four months, right before I moved out of the house. I started to feel that he was trying to get too serious too soon...he tried to select an apartment for me in Providence, and took me out food shopping to figure out what brand of peanut butter I liked, and I just wasn't ready for that. In hindsight, of course, he just wasn't the right guy at the right time for me--I was meant to find the RIGHT one seven months ago. However, Piotr has a brilliant mind and I think we'll be hearing big things from him in the future. His quote at the end is REALLY a good one, and I think all of us can take something from it.

Dear Ted,

It’s already Christmas time and a perfect moment for me to send you these short but true wishes. Over the past two years I have been more than busy finishing my coursework and preparing for two difficult comprehensive exams qualifying me for the final step in my studying career -- dissertation. Now
that I’ve accomplished this goal – literally days ago – and after all this long period of silence for which I apologize, I can now send you this short message with my sincere wishes for you and yours.

I hope that this holiday and next year will bring us all many moments to be happy, smile, and enjoy life. Whatever you decide to do in 2005 – travel, buy a new house and/or car, change your job, open a new blank page of your life, etc. – may luck accompany you and, as Paulo Coelho wrote, “if you really wish to
achieve something, the whole universe will conspire to help you reach the goal.”

Best,
Piotr
