I enjoyed the gift of a day that I gave myself today. I slept until 11:30, watched plenty of Buffy, and picked up "A short history of the Catholic Church"...it is short. I'm already up to the Protestant reformation.

[livejournal.com profile] bludevilsf...thanks for the song! It reminded me that my favorite Belle and Sebastian tunes are the ones where Isobel sings with Stuart. It also reminds me a bit of something on the Lazy Line Painter Jane EP three-disc set.

[livejournal.com profile] xavierism, I had the nastiest martini last night! It was called a dirty martini and if I never drink one again, I'll be a happy man! The two that followed were heavenly, however.

Today was good. Reclaiming your soul can be a good thing--everybody try it some time, y'hear?

*SWOOP-A!*

One of today's AOL headlines is a perfect example of fearmongering (The Culture of Fear, Barry Glassner)...it shows an infant sitting before a TV with the header, "What's TV Doing to His Brain?" Moral of the story: turn off the tube, turn on your AOL. Hmm, right.

Speaking of headlines, I heard the weirdest story the other day while I was driving home, about a church in Pennsylvania that held an Easter pagaent and decided to show that Easter is more about the passion of Christ than about the easter bunny. To demonstrate this, they incorporated a scene where the Easter bunny was shown being whipped, and also a scene where easter eggs were crushed. For some reason, some of the kids who saw the pagaent were upset by these additions.

I mean, what the hell were they thinking?
