Decumulation

"I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow/To see a great big man entirely made of snow..." Bing Cosby

My Friday night martini post:

Well, hmmm. What else is there to write about tonight? What else, what else, what else? Really, there is nothing much I can mention in my Friday night martini post other than the topic of...snow.

Snow! I asked AI to compose a limerick about the subject, and here is what I got:

A Winter Pause

There once was a blizzard of snow,

That made all the traffic go slow.

The ground turned to white,

A beautiful sight,

But now I have nowhere to go!

Nowhere to go...I too, am looking forward to the idea of being stuck inside with Corb on Sunday afternoon, with nothing on the TV to watch... save for maybe Upstairs Downstairs or Stranger Things...

Sometimes it's nice to just tuck yourself in and hide away for a day. I am going to ignore the shoveling that goes with it for now.

So tonight, I raise a snowball martini and toast to winter wonderlands, to snow drifts, to hiding away and to snuggling in. Be safe this weekend, my friends, and please remember to be careful in the accumulated drift and listen to your body while shoveling.

Also, while I love the snow, it goes with saying, I HATE the ICE. The ice so needs to go, m'kay?

Postscript now that the weekend is almost complete:

It was a lovely weekend. I started last week by writing a big "12" on my calendar. 12 weeks until the Corporate World is in the past. That makes this week 11.

I asked my boss when I could start telling folks, and she said she wouldn't have time to start thinking about what the future of the department will be like until mid-February. I also told her that I am scheduling a week off mid-February to start using up the ten PTO days I have left (and start feeling what life is going to be like, frankly.) I told her that could move if she needs me to do so. She thanked me for being so easy to work with.

I can afford to be easy now :)

I suspect there will be quite a bit of change when I leave. That is as it should be, I think. I want to be able to be a resource for that change.

So much is going on in the world right now. I try not to say much, but also look forward to being able to say more in a few months.

All in all, it was a nice weekend in addition to our Friday night martini night. Saturday, Corb and I took his mom to Putnam for some antiquing. Corb has had a good week at the stores, selling three chandeliers, so we were on the hunt for new merch. Afterwards, ate at our favorite restaurant in Putnam, the Courthouse.

I discovered a Nancy Drew dust cover that is a bit in demand--The Secret of Red Gate Farm from the 1930s. The only problem I discovered, after leaving the store? the book inside is different from the dust cover. Still 1930s, but even so, a bit of a cheat.

Today we prepared for the ongoing blizzard, which started around eleven, by picking up some last-minute items and then staying inside and taking down most of the remaining Christmas trees. Only one, the main one, now remains. Them we went out to at least shovel the walkways. We will get someone to come over and plow. No, we did not watch the football game.

It's been a nice relaxing day. I went online and saw that there was some buzz over the weekend about a few work items.

How nice it feels to begin to disengage. And begin to engage elsewhere.

ugh to AI! I'm just not a fan of AI.
I also hate ICE--the rouge agency and what will coat and break trees as if they're nothing (power lines as well). I hope you didn't have that; I'm thinking you didn't.

So what will you do with your days off in February? Just wondering!
