Last night I came to a realization.

Something happened last night, but it wasn't the "something" that Josie is going to think bothered me, because that didn't really bother me at all (sorry if I'm not more detailed, but it's a bit personal. Oh, I know, why be coy now?)

But as you know, I've been working to finalize my submission to the agents, and I've been at the final stage, right before submission. Usually this is a team effort--I review and write text, and Josie formats and makes it look dazzling. We had agreed that last night we were going to get together and finish that off, and I had given Josie the material in advance to get a lot of it done.

But when I sat down, alone, last night, I looked at what Josie had finished, and aside from the cover, nothing else had really been completed.

And my first reaction was to get mad, but then I realized, at five in the morning, something very important.

I'm responsible for the success of this submission. No one else. And if I want it to look pretty, then I'd better get to work on it.

So that is what I did this morning. And today, I'm taking the entire package with me and mailing it out.

This is MY job. I'm a big boy. I'm going to make this happen. On my own.
