Tedwords Picture Parade: 100
May. 1st, 2014 08:22 am
My dad woke me up this morning with an email addressed to the family: "Today is Nana Mitchell's birthday. She was born May 1, 1914 and would have been 100 years old today. Also, Mother's Day was celebrated for the first time in 1914, 100 years ago. Coincidence? I think not. Have a great day and think of some of the nice things she did for you guys."
Look, if the big guy asks for it, I comply, but this is not really a difficult request. Just as in this photo (that's me with the Viewmaster), Nana helped to shape the way I view the world in a profound way. From her caring, selfless nature to her earthy sense of humor, she was one of the most wonderful ladies I have ever known...and I miss her and think of her every day. Love you, Nana. Happy birthday.
