A room with a mattress

tedwordsHere's my big question right now: What type of bed should I get for my apartment?
This is a big decision. I'm thinking of avoiding a traditional style bed, because I want room for my work area--you know, large desk, possibly an easel, computer space, that sort of thing. I'm leaning toward a day bed, but my friend Peg (who is the height of all things cool) recommends a futon with a box spring.
Your thoughts? What do you rest your head upon at the end of a long hard day?
